What are the pros and cons of having a facebook?

I've kinda wanted to have one all year but I decided to wait until summer so that I have time to set it up. I've heard a lot about it from my friends and I just want an easier way to keep in contact with my friends. I'd just like to know what the benefits and disadvantages are of having a facebook.
