Since its beginnings in 2006, Twitter has become the fastest growing social media site in the world.  Named for the sound that birds make when they communicate, Twitter was designed as an instant communications network.  It allows users to share 140-character posts that describe what they’re doing, reading, learning and finding valuable.

Despite a user base in the millions, there are still many myths and misconceptions about what Twitter really is.  Below are five myths and truths about Twitter.

While Twitter is not for everyone, it is a great tool to connect with like-minded people, learn new ideas and access resources.  Users should base their decision on whether to use Twitter on facts, not myths.
