How to Utilise Twitter Lists

Twitter is one of the most widely used social media sites today along side Facebook and YouTube. This unique social media platform boasts many great features that many of you have not yet fully utilised. One of these features is Twitter Lists. What are Twitter Lists?

The list feature allows you to easily organise the people you are following and those who are following you. It lets you create specific groups and even allows you to include people you are not yet following.By doing this, you can focus on viewing the tweets of specific people on a single page rather than being overwhelmed by the constant updates and numerous messages that appear in your main tweet stream. Why use Twitter Lists? An important function of Twitter Lists is to recommend people other users are not yet following. What you can do is group them together in one list and recommend the entire list to friends, business associates or colleagues whom you think will benefit from following them. How you group your list is up to you – it could be people in your local area, those with a specific skill set or expertise or even those that share great insights. So when a fellow Twitter user visits the page of a specific list, he or she can decide who among the people there to follow. It's a great way of sharing who you love to follow and who adds value to your Tweeting experience.Following a list does not necessarily mean following all the people included there. It's just a way for you to find out what's new with those on the list and it's up to you to choose who you'd like to follow on a regular basis. You can even include yourself in those lists. How do I create a Twitter List?Creating Twitter lists is easy. Just click on that Lists button immediately to the left of your Bio when you log into Twitter. Click the drop down triangle and select New List to create a new list or simply add to an existing one. After creating the list, you will need to search for other Twitter users to add in there. Each user can create up to 20 lists but each list is limited to only 500 people. You also have the freedom to remove users from your list. How do I share my Twitter List?Via the privacy settings, you can choose to make the group public such that anyone can subscribe to the list or you can decide to make it private allowing you to have exclusive access. When your list is public, this is visible to everybody and anyone can follow the list. If it's private, it's only who can access the list and manage the people in there. If you're a business owner or just a frequent Twitter user who has thousands of followers and are following thousands of people as well, creating lists will benefit you greatly. In this way, you are able to separate your family from your friends, business associates and clients and classify the people you are following according to specific categories.Using Twitter Lists is indeed yet one more effective organising tool that will make using Twitter much easier. For people in business, using Twitter lists will enable you to interact better with your target audience. So if you're not yet on Twitter, then it's time to join in and reap the benefits. Get yourself and your business in front of the world and truly reach a global audience.
