How do I post a video to Facebook that was taken with a Digital Camera?

I took a short video with my digital camera and when I try to post on Facebook it tells me the" file is unsupported". The video is classified as Jpeg, is there a way to reformat it or something so that I can post it or do I need to use something other than my digital camera when taking video in order to post on Facebook ? Thanks for any info.
