How To Make Money Online

To make money online you have to have a systematic strategy with goals and objectives, just like any other kind of business. The only difference is that you are doing the work for yourself on line, most likely in your home office.

My home office, for example is a laptop on a computer desk in my dining room area. I also have a "office-office" upstairs with a big desk and chair, and a land-line computer, but I am more comfortable downstairs on my laptop at home. It is more cheery here near my kitchen and it has brighter lights.

The beauty of having a home business is just that, you can plug your computer anywhere you are comfortable and work online. With that, however, it does require discipline to consistently work on your marketing one day at a time, one step at a time.

I have intrinsic motivation to succeed online and that keeps me motivated to work everyday. I also find Internet marketing fascinating. It is like the field of education, a big open field with inexhaustible things to learn about. I love a challenge. I get bored doing the same thing over and over again, so Internet marketing gives me a lot of variety-too much if I'm not careful.

What I mean by that is sometimes I get too scattered. I start too many projects at once, too many software programs at once and get boggled down with overwhelm and learning new information. Every day there is another product and another program to utilize. All of this takes up time and money, and if I'm not too careful will lead me down the path of running on a treadmill getting nowhere.

When I sift through all of the courses, products and software, I take what I like and leave the rest. I believe everyone who is in internet marketing will go through a sifting process. What I mean by that is what works for one person may or may not work for another person. You have to find what works for you.

For some it will be blogging and social media marketing, such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. For others it may be PPC and joint ventures with other marketers. I believe everyone should be an affiliate with ClickBank. Some people will be creating their own products. Some people will have a lot of money to spend on their online business and some people will not.

If you do not have a lot of money to spend creating your online business, you will have to learn how to do things yourself. But do not despair, because in the long run you may be in the better position. You will definitely know what you are doing.

Out of necessity, you may have to learn web design, WordPress, some HTML, NVU or some other HTML editor, Aweber, and/or how to upload files onto the web. It may sound confusing, but taking one little step at a time it is remarkable what you can do. From there, you can learn more about how to utilize Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, ezine marketing and article marketing. It is all about how to drive traffic and the list goes on.

If you have money to invest in your online endeavors, you can outsource a lot of your work. For example, you can pay someone to set up a website for you, someone to set up a YouTube and Twitter profile and/or someone to help you with your branding.

You can pay someone to help you generate a lot more traffic. There are so many companies out there asking three to four thousand dollars or more for this service, but it may be worth it. The best thing, however, is to shop around. People can bid on these projects through Elance or 99 Designs. The only problem with that is you will not learn how to do theses services for yourself, necessarily, but you can spend more of your time on marketing.

So, whichever road you take, there are pros and cons. Sometimes the harder road is the one taken out of necessity. Everyone with a desire to learn Internet marketing can learn, although the money may not be forthcoming overnight.

For most people it appears to take an average of 1 to 2 years to start being profitable. You have to ask yourself, are you willing to take the risk? Are you willing to pay the price, whether that be in money, time, or working to learn the business. No one starts from the top, even though some Internet marketers will promise you that if you buy their product. If it was that easy everyone would be doing it and the success rate would be a lot higher than 5%.

With that said, it is possible. Keep your dreams alive. Motivate yourself to implement what you learn. Take what you like and leave the rest. Do what works for you and for your own personality type. If you have a lot of charisma, for example, get yourself on YouTube. Even if you just like video, get yourself on YouTube.

If you can make people laugh, get yourself on YouTube. If you can write articles, write articles. If you like connecting with people all day and all night, get yourself connected to Facebook and Twitter. There is something for everybody.
