Every day more people use Facebook. According to Facebook data there is more than 350,000,000 users around the world.

Laurel Papworth published in her personal Blog (laurelpapwworth.com) on August 31, 2009 that only 5,852,000 used Facebook.

In less than 5 months, the number of Australian people using Facebook increased in more than 1,000,000 users.

Until today (December 14th, 2009) the total number of users in Australia is 7.646.640 people in total regardless of their age (according to Facebook).

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), in December 2007 there were 7.1 million internet subscribers: 964 000 business and government subscribers and 6.14 million household subscribers.

This means that all the Internet subscribers in Australia have access to Facebook. I think this is a reason why organisations have started to realise the importance of implementing Social Media Strategies as part of their Marketing efforts.

Large organizations such as car manufacturers and softdrink producers have started to create their fan's page in Facebook.

-Toyota has managed to build a Facebook fan's page with more than 32,000 fans.

-The most popular cola drink company in the world which name I am not allowed to mention but you know it is creating a very interesting Facebook page for the Australian market with more than 49,400 fans.

I am true believer that Facebook is an excellent tool for marketers. It has viral properties that no other tool offers.

I know that the usage of Facebook within the Australian community will change dramatically in the next few months and I will be monitoring all the Facebook and Social Media Strategies that Australian Companies will be using.
