Facebook and Twitter revolutions: The old order is collapsing through revolutionary attacks

Poetry as a form of communication and expressiveness of strong feelings had been used to strengthen communal ties, to liberate people from sufferings –against oppression and suppression. That is exactly what poetry is doing today as it is expressed through facebook and twitter.

We are living in the most dangerous moments in the history of the human race. Poets have always been the chief figures and leading figures of revolutions throughout history. It has not changed a bit, modern day poets are in the billions and their poems are deadly dangerous than ever before. In writing this article I did a search on Google with the search string "is poetry dead" I received 102 million hits that positively indicate that poetry is dead. There is even an online Magazine called "Poetry is Dead". What a fallacy.  What travesty of reality. Poetry is much alive today. Poetry is twitter and poetry is facebook. One of the most characteristics of poetry is its brevity and richness of language. Conciseness and clarity is standard to all poetry. That is what facebook and twitter are exactly all about.

Poetry is a powerful tool that has been used to initiate revolutions or insurrection. The basis for poetry is the expression of powerful feeling in few words. If we look today we see poetry in motion. The messages expressed through facebook status updates and twitter is nothing but poetry. Both express a powerful feeling in poetic brevity.

In the 18th century a poet by the name of William Wordsworth described poetry as "The spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" isn't that what facebook and twitter is all about? Facebook is programmed in such a way that it prompts you "what is in your mind". And thus the messages found on facebook and twitters are spontaneous feelings of rage or happiness and they sunk powerfully in the minds of the "friends" or followers of the person who expresses them. In this context we can begin to understand how poetry in the bygone era, and how poetry today expressed in the form of twitter caused and continued to cause revolutions, the over through of empires and age long regimes.

In both poetry, and facebook and twitter texts we find strong feelings of passionate and uneasy discomfort or anguish, the causeless melancholy, the vague aspirations, vague restlessness, the search for something one does not quite know – a longing.

What caused revolutions in the Arab African nations of Tunisia and Egypt? It was caused by the modern day poets, the youth through facebook and twitter. These young people were tormented and they expressed their strong rage feelings that circled in the air and eventually exploded and dragged those who read these messages into social and political activities that caused these revolutions.

And so, since the youth are at the centre of these social media, there have become important part to play in shaping our present society and that of the future. They are the chief figures of the new era and the future. We are being defined and redefined. Through facebook and twitter billions of youth convey their strong feelings and emotions in simple and unelaborated expressions. Accordingly, the language used, arising out of repeated experience and regular popular feelings, is more permanent and have powerful effects of igniting people to act on them now not tomorrow. Facebook and twitter like poetry is a spontaneous flow of powerful feelings.

Winning the future and capturing the sputnik moment the central message coming form Barack Obama's 2011 State of the Union Speech entail awareness of these technological phenomena that is now in control our lives and future. We are in a state of excitement and the future is not about money, jobs, cars or anything, but fluxes and refluxes of the mind during the periods of amusement or idle pleasure or pain. The fluxes and refluxes of the mind that are spread in split seconds to billions of people at once through facebook and twitter gives importance to behavior, action and situation.

What is the general essence of messages spread through facebook and twitter? This: messages about loss of loved ones, of injuries and resentments, of gratitude and hope, of fear and sorrow – of insubordination and revolutions. The facebook writer or twitter think and feels in the spirit of the passions of his/her "friends" or twitter followers. These interconnections in spirit, emotion and feeling produced revolutions in Arab African nations of Tunisia and Egypt. They helped the formation of the Tea Party movement in the United States of America.  And they are producing revolutions in every aspect of our lives in the process shaping the future cheap synthroid generic.
