Activities for School children regarding Social studies in school?

I am a Social Teacher, I am handling 6,7,8th standard, in my school my higher authorities told me to teach Social subject through activities like

* field trip
* visual media education

Please give me suggestion, is there any interesting website for school social studies which is very useful for children to collect information. Or give me some other suggestion to handle my subject effectively..........
